Thank You 2017!!

As 2017 is coming to an end, I look back on the year and how awesome it has been.  While it hasn’t all been sunshine and rainbows; I’ve learned a lot from the low points and appreciate the high points so much more.  One of the high points of this year was finding this community.  I was immediately welcomed with open arms by so many amazing people; and after only eight months I have so much for which to be thankful.

Feli (@whyshewrote), thanks for being one of my first instafriends and being so encouraging.  What started out as a hand-lettering account, transformed into something completely different.  Thank you so much for still following along and showing just as much encouragement.

Carie Harling, thank you so much for reaching out to me and asking to contribute to Paper Planning Magazine.  That article was the jumping off point for this blog!  Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge of planning and being a inspiration for many in the planning community.

Kelly, thank you for also reaching out to me and asking me to review your products.  You are such a generous person and the quality of your products is truly amazing.  Planner clips are now my obsession!

Jess, thank for being the first shop to invite me to be apart of their PR team.  It has been so much fun getting to be involved in the creative process and getting to know all the girls in the group.  Little Red Prints will continue to be one of my favorite sticker shops.

Angie Jarobe, you’re such an awesome person.  Thank for creating the Planners With Manners Facebook group and welcoming me so whole-heartedly.  I’m so thankful that you took a chance on doing a collaboration with me for your new sticker shop.

Mindy Robinson, we’ve never met in real life, but you are one of the most genuine and thoughtful people I have met.  Thank you so much for bringing my ideas to life; and for being so generous in the process.  You are truly talented!

Eddie...Babe, thank for being so supportive of everthing I do!  Even when I felt embarrassed to show you things I was working on for my planner, you embraced how much I enjoyed what I was doing and encouraged me to do more.

To my friends and family who follow “The Planner Dude”, thank you for supporting me and the things I love to do.

And last but not least, thank YOU for taking the time to read this blog post.  There are so many awesome bloggers and Instagramers out there...thank you so much for following along, interacting with me on social media and showing so much love and encouragement for this little old planner dude.  Your support is appreciated beyond words.  This community is truly amazing; and I look forward to what 2018 has in store.

These are my confessions...

I’m fairly new to the planning community.  I’ve actively been keeping a planner for about a month now; and it has been so helpful in my everyday life.  You see, I’m the type of person who forgets everything if I don’t write it down.  So having a planner by my side has been essential. My planner is literally my new best friend! At first, I searched the internet for anything I could find about traveler’s notebooks, planners and inserts.  I went to YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, Google, you name it! After some weeks of research I finally found something that was going to fit my needs.  The only thing was that there was a noticeable lack of “planner dude” representation in the planner community; and I have to admit, it was a bit discouraging. Social media is bursting with blinged out planners with dashboards and charms and vellum and washi tape and acetate and embellishments and fancy paperclips and inserts galore…all beautiful, but not exactly my...

Unboxing - Travelers Notebooks by Jaileesplanning

A few days ago I received my package from  JaileesPlanning . It was a handmade B6 travelers notebook; and I must say...I love it! Upon opening the package I was met with lovely, thoughtful packaging. The TN itself was wrapped in tissue paper with a shop label on the front. On the inside was a hand written note with a persoanlized envelope. Her travelers notebook are custom made with doubled layered, hand-sewn, faux leather and reinforced spine.  Her Instagram account states that they "won't be perfect, but they are made with love." And indeed they are! I cannot get over how freaking cute it is. I had mine made with a secretarial pocket on the front and back covers and pen loop. She also included extra elastic that can be used as a jump band or replacement elastic for the TN. Overall, I think her description of the travelers notebooks is pretty spot on. The tiny imperfections; and the fact that they are sewn by hand, is what makes these traveler...

One Book July 2017: Final Thoughts

Now that July is coming to a close; and One Book July 2017 is coming to an end, I wanted to reflect on my experiences with the challenge and with the planner community as a whole. One Book July 2017 was great a great learning experience for me! I had so much fun challenging myself and trying new things this month. Staying in one book for the entire month wasn't that hard for me seeing as how I pretty much only use one book anyway, but I was able to use the time to try some new things.  I'll admit, I did get lost in the "style" of planning for a bit, but I found my way back to the "substance" and was able to get a grip on what is beneficial for my overall productivity. What did I learn from One Book July 2017?  I'm so glad you asked! First off, I learned Personal sized TN's are my jam!  They have just enough space for what I need to do, without being too big or too small. Secondly, I learned that my personal life isn't as busy as I thought...
