Being fairly new to the Travler's Notebook scene, my personal TN is constantly evolving. I'm constantly readjusting and trying out new things so that I can find exactly what works for me and what doesn't. Needless to say, I have not yet found planner peace, but I'm having tons of fun in the process.
The newest addition to my handy, dandy notebook are these DIY Planner Tabs. They were so simple to make; and add a nice personal touch to the overall look of my TN.
Now, I most definitely cannot take full credit for this nifty idea. I got the idea from @jaileesplanning on Instagram; and she was nice enough to also give me some tips and tricks. If you don't follow her yet, I definitely recommend going to on over to Instagram right now and hitting that "Follow" button! Her feed is filled with colorful spreads and DIY galore; and has quickly become one of my favorites to scroll through. She even makes her own TN's!!
Here is how I made my Nifty Planner Tabs:
I started off by creating "Tab-like" shape on a Word document, printing it out on cardstock, cutting it out and using it as a stencil.
I then printed out some digital scrapbook paper, traced the shape onto the paper, cut them out and folded each one if half. I wanted everything to coordinate so I used a digital scrapbook kit from DigitalDesignsbyJodi on Esty. I used the same kit to make my insert covers.
Next, I took some sticker paper and hand-lettered the name for each section, cut out each one to fit the size of the tab and stuck it on the front.
Finally, I glued each tab to the front of the corresponding cover using a glue stick.
Overall, making these tabs was very simple. The process was a bit tedious, but well worth the time; and added some character to my TN. And since I usually change out my insert covers every month, I wasn't too concerned about having them perfect; or sticking them directly on the covers. I love a good DIY!
I hope you all found some of this information to be useful. If you decide to give it a go for yourself, please post some photos in the comments. I would love to see all of your DIY projects!
